What to Expect

What happens after my doctor suggests hospice care?

Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. will schedule a meeting with the patient, family, and the visiting nurse. The first question asked will be "What are the patient's goals?" The second will be "What are the family's/friends' goals?" These questions will help guide the nurse in developing the patient's plan of care.

The collaboration between the patient, family/friends, and the nurse is essential for us to deliver the best possible care. Once the patient and family decide this is the correct path to take, which could be during the initial visit, the nurse will begin the admittance process.

What if I can't afford to pay for care?

As the only nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider in Acadiana, our mission is to provide comprehensive, compassionate end-of-life care. With Hospice of Acadiana, Inc., you will receive all the care you need—for as long as you need it—regardless of your ability to pay.
